Question Time

OK so Sheryl, you run your own company Light Tree Media.  You have two son's a 10 year old and 8 month old and live in Welwyn Garden City.  You have been brought aboard Mums Enterprise in its mission to reach as many ambitious mums as possible and you will help this through your expertise in Social Media.  BUT please answer these questions so everybody can get to know you a little better.

1.Describe your work history before going it alone in less than 20 words

Stock controlling, merchandising and marketing for a very large company and a couple of SMEs in a past life.

2.What 5 words best describe what you do

Only 5? Let me pick the best of the bunch 

Fast-paced, analytical, innovative, creative and fun!

 3. Why do you love what you do?

I love nothing more than meeting new people from all walks of life in a variety of business. The companies have different needs and challenges and nothing brings me more joy than working with a business to get the most out of social media; creating new campaigns and informing and guiding how social media is a brilliant tool to use to help get across the message of the company culture, products and in some instances establishing themselves as leaders in their field. Also seeing the enthusiasm for social media transfer to the client as they understand how it can be used for business, it’s infectious!

4. What brought you and Mums Enterprise together 

Good old networking! I can’t stress the importance of getting out there and meeting other business owners and making connections. When I met Lindsay last year, I was impressed by her passion, drive and determination to help other mums like me and bring a platform where they can explore options for work and re-training if they want to go into another field. A lot of what she says mirrors my journey and I really could have done with an event like this when I started out. When Lindsay asked me to come on board, there was no hesitation in accepting as this is something close to my heart and I have experienced the challenges around starting a business as a busy mum. This is something which is truly needed and can only benefit others and grow. I am truly honoured to be a part of it all!

5. Best single thing about being an 'ambitious mum'

Inspiring my children! The youngest is too young to understand but my eldest understands and speaks with pride about my job to his friends. It also shows them what you can achieve when you put your mind to it. My proudest moment yet was teaching my son how to build a website…he’s now gone on and built a few now and he’s only 10!

6. As you are on a 'mission to the moon' what 5 things can't you live without which you would need aboard the Enterprise?

Picture of my family – they are the heart of who I am

Internet access – You can bet I will be on social media tweeting and taking a few selfies from the moon!

My phone – Always lost without it! And I can also listen to my favourite music. Space is too quiet otherwise

Wine – Makes the world…or the moon a much more interesting place
